Best Buy, Home Depot and Lowe's still price match Amazon in 2026, as long as the item is sold and shipped by Amazon itself (not a third-party seller), identical, and in stock. Target stopped matching Amazon in July 2025, and Walmart and Costco don't match competitors at all. Amazon itself doesn't price match.
Who matches Amazon (and who doesn't)
| Store | Matches Amazon? | Key rules |
|---|---|---|
| Best Buy | Yes | Sold by Amazon, identical and in stock. Prime-exclusive prices excluded. No competitor matching from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. |
| Home Depot | Yes | Sold and shipped by Amazon, identical, in stock at both. Straight match, no extra discount. |
| Lowe's | Yes | Sold by Amazon, identical and in stock. Lowe's compares the total price including shipping. |
| Target | No | Ended competitor matching on July 28, 2025. Only matches Target's own prices. |
| Walmart | No | Only matches Walmart.com prices in store. |
| Costco | No | Only refunds its own price drops within 30 days. |
| Amazon | No | Doesn't match other stores' prices. |
The rules that trip people up
- "Sold by Amazon" only. On the product page, check "Ships from" and "Sold by." If a third-party seller is listed, stores won't match it.
- Prime-only prices don't count. Membership-exclusive deals, Lightning Deals and coupon prices are usually excluded.
- Identical model. Same brand, model number, size and color. Check the barcode or model number, not the product name.
- In stock now. If Amazon shows "currently unavailable" or a long delivery date, expect a no.
- Shipping may count. Lowe's compares the delivered price, so a cheap item with expensive shipping may not be cheaper.
How to get Amazon's price in person
- Scan the item's barcode in the store to see Amazon's price and every other store's price side by side.
- Open the Amazon listing on your phone and confirm it's sold by Amazon and in stock.
- Ask at checkout or customer service and show the live listing. The associate verifies and adjusts the price.
- Scan the barcode of the item on the shelf with Price Match Paradise. No account needed to start.
- Review matching offers across supported retailer sources, with stock status and price-match guidance when the retailer data is available.
- Decide in the aisle: ask for a match, buy it here because it's already the best price, or pick it up where it's cheaper.
When it's better not to match
Sometimes another nearby store is simply cheaper than both Amazon and the store you're in. A scan shows every option at once, so you can pick the best one instead of just matching Amazon. For the full picture, see The Complete Guide to Price Matching in 2026.
